The project for the Casa do Vento (House of Wind) is the first intervention of a broader picture, which encompasses the construction of an ecologic resort within a forest on the sea of the Northern Brasilian coast. The main project themes are relative to the relationship with the surrounding landscape, which combines the sea with the land through the encounter of the beach and the forest, and the reading of local cultural and productive specificities. The result is that of a linear building, orientated perpendicular to the sea, which spaces are in continuity with the exteriors and the forest. A wide overhanging roof protects the house and the terraces form the equator sun and the seasonal rains. The employment of local materials and construction technologies reconciles the project with local specificities and makes the construction process a shared and collaborative event.
