The design of the new headquarters for the auction house, Christie‘s, in Palazzo Clerici in Milan, serves as an opportunity to reflect on the insertion of a contemporary language in a prestigious historical context. The project investigates two fundamental aspects: the material relationship with the existing structure and the natural lighting of the spaces. At the heart of the project is the reception hall, the mediation space between the architecture of the existing building and the new workspaces. The restoration of the wooden floors, insertion of clear facades composed of lines of iron framework with panels of varying levels of opacity, and the decision to let natural light flood the space, render this highly distinctive space.
