The client‘s request consisted in the inclusion of a swimming pool in the garden of an eighteenth-century villa on Lake Como. The objective of integrating the pool in such a historical landscape, required a long reflection on the form and position within the park. The pool is grafted, towards the villa, over an existing mineral area, paved in a local stone ‘opus incertum’. Towards the park the pool is resting on the lawn. The formal declination of the intervention derives its design from the interweaving of the spatial relations of the context in which it is inserted and the dynamic of approaching the water and using the pool.
