The new headquarters for the Aziende Industriali Mendrisio belongs to the scale of the Ticinese territory. A single building, compact and precise, which relates with the highway and the surrounding urban context, incorporates the entire program and becomes a new urban ad territorial landmark. Like a large aground vessel, the building is entirely cladded in translucid white polycarbonate and lies on the highway limit. The facades, treated homogeneously and cut horizontally by long openings that capture light and organize the functions, define a translucid and luminous volume that calls attention for its formal rigour and composition. A tidy concrete structure cladded with a light system defines a simple tectonic element, able to host the required program and define the new image of the client in continuity with the tradition of the territory.
