The design for a private residence in the hills North of Santa Monica, in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles, relates to the tradition of Modern Architecture in the United States and California and especially to the work of architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Neutra. A solid, concrete base, like an archaeological ruin, relates to the geographical context and bears a large wooden equipment that happens to be the roof of the house. The encounter and embrace between these two elements and materialities define a simple and rigorous architecture that searches its meaning in the atmosphere of the interiors and in the dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
